NISSAN CUBE, 2005
The CUBE has been a successful product for years in the Japanese market but, not
available in left hand drive, was not imported to the USA. The corporation decided to
enter our market and commissioned NDA, among other Nissan studios, to do the design.
I used a photo of my childhood home in Indiana as a side reflection on this Photoshop drawing of a CUBE
proposal. Also, note the "cubical" treatment of the lamps on this vehicle.
Does the CUBE have to be a BOX??
With this series of exteriors, I tried to create a story for each. This means finding a descriptive
NAME, an IMAGE or PRODUCT that expresses the theme and a DESIGN that relates.

designs as long
as one covers
the basics first..
INTERIOR design development went in various directions,
many of which are based on the CUBE identity itself.
Lots of simple wood surfaces. It would
have to be real veneer at least.
This series is a completely different approach - based
on a light open look with the seats gliding on a floor "puck".
